Hello all. I'm going to be doing a little housekeeping here on LJ pretty soon, so if you see yourself (or one of your many LJ identities) off my f-list, well, it's probably because you changed journals or don't update anymore. If it simply makes your blood boil not to be in my exclusive inner circle of lackies, holler and I'll add you again.

P.S. I'll also be adding a few new people that I've been meaning to add, so that will happen as well.

Okay, okay, I realize I haven't updated in a while. Fine. Point taken. Understood.

Today marks the end of the week from hell, which I have determined involves any combination of the following; stir frequently to agitate all ingredients and enjoy.

Having a large assortment of essays/assignments due on the same day because your teachers happen to be horrible at coordinating any reasonable kind of massive schedule capable of accommodating your laziness.

Having to make up a test because you skipped out a day to finish all the work you neglected to do the night before, including studying for said test, thanksverymuch.

Having to finish 2/3 of your college applications, which you thought would be easier because you were applying to art schools, but were dead wrong about because you have to actually show these people you can draw, yeah.

Having to get sick right when you thought the worst of your problems were over because, apparently, hacking up phelgm and blowing your nose until the cows come home are just too fun to pass up.

On another note, I want to change my journal layout. All white really is so last season, wouldn't you all agree?

Dear Friend List:

Really, would it kill any of you to do a decent update once and a while? Here I am, wracking my brain to think up sincere musings for the lot of you, all for nothing in return. This relationship of ours is clearly one sided.

Unfondly,
G.

The Unofficial Cure for the Uncommonly Ordinary Day:

One Donna Summers song, fresh from the iTunes or other similar device.
One pair of high heels.*
One full length mirror.

*Note: Strappy sandals in rich shades and textures are always preferable, but other in-season varieties may also be substituted.

Bring song to high volume, taking a few moments to allow attitude to develop. Place heels on and position self in front of mirror; strut. Continue for as long as necessary to further bring out natural fabulosity.

The people here should know better than to leave me alone in a room full of office supplies; I am apt to waste PostIts, unbend paper clips, and shoot staples at the wall.

In any case, school will be starting soon, and I have yet to finish any of my summer reading. Perhaps I would be inclined otherwise if the books we were given to read weren't utter bullshit. But then again, picking out books is like picking out clothes, some people just have better taste than others. Does that mean that the English department is the equivalent of our over-sunned Aunt Val in her Vegas shades and matching lame stirrup pants? Let's hope not. At this rate, Aunt Val is well on the road to premature aging, and I'll be in need of something else to complain about.

Clearly I am too much of a lady in public to tell my brother to please—and very kindly—go fuck himself. Today's shopping trip was nothing short of disaster; had there been hair pulling to accompany the yelling and stomping, it would have been a good old fashioned catfight between the two of us.

This is not to say, of course, that men do not have their uses.

Indeed, I could have reduced my brother to a purse holding minion who fetches me additional sizes upon command, but alas, I do not own a purse. One of these days, however...

See, I really admire Halle Berry as Catwoman. She defies the misconception that one cannot fight crime in heels.

My family is driving me insane:

Self: SITS DOWN TO ENJOY MANGO SORBET FROM THE CARTON.

Brother: CONDESCENDING TONE. How long is it going to take you to eat that, five minutes, two minutes, huh, huh?

Ah, but sweet redemption:

Some time later...

Brother: HURRIES DOWN SPIRAL STAIR CASE; CLATTER SCUFFLE SOUNDS ENSUE. TRIPPING HAPPENS.

Brother: FLABBERGASTED. What the hell was that?!

Self: Serves you right, mother fucker...

Hmm. I tried to update this in hopes of sounding terribly witty, but alas, I have nothing. In any event, I was wondering:

How is that we can constantly hate ourselves and not claim egocentricity? To some extent, self-loathing requires a great deal of energy, better spent making other people feel bad about themselves. Why obsess about our own needs when we can make someone else more aware of their personal inhibitions? Lets do ourselves a bit of service; if picking out personal faults comes that easily to us, then it is a crime to waste such talents on other, less fruitful endeavors.

Since the advent of man, the world has been quite a horrid place to live. Bees exist only to find their way into our bonnets, and rain only to ruin our parades. And who are we to go against nature? Surely a little extra bitterness could not hurt things. In this regard, we must remember that there exists a fundamental balance of things both light and dark, sweet and sour, good and evil. So if you should happen upon someone attempting to spread feelings of cheer and encouragement, for whatever reason, act fast! Heed my advice; knowingly neutralize those good sentiments with ones that are positively bad, and I assure you, all will be right and wise.

Am updating because this thing because it is staring me in the face and making me feel very guilty. Okay.

Semester exams finished up this week, meaning I can finally get back to my more creative pursuits, namely role playing, as I have neglected the hell out of poor Mandy Brocklehurst. That and I miss talking with Kay, Mandy and Delz...which reminds me, I should add Delz's journal to my friend's list.

Last week was Kay's birthday, so to be festive, I made her a cake and went with her and her mom to their neighbors' house to celebrate. I wish we had neighbors like Billie and Ed; instead am stuck living next door to a crazy woman with a disgruntled daschund, an overprotective set of parents who have equally mysterious and secretive spawn and a host of other people who remain ULOs (unidentified living objects).

Went over to Adam's house yesterday and hung out with said boy and other friend Grace, where Adam decided to literally sink his fangs into me. We watched part of the Cowboy Bebop movie after much insistance on my part, but I have a feeling he probably would have watched it again anyway. Speaking of anime (and boys), must get Nick to give me back my Naruto CDs so I can have an excuse to talk to him again.

Still debating about whether or not to go to Katsucon, must see how Mom feels about dishing out the dinero to pay for it.

On a more random note, am finding myself oddly addicted to bubble tea. I insist that everyone try it at least once for the novelty.

Will come back online later to do some more house keeping—I fear the dust bunnies that have undoubtedly colonized my inbox.

Fasten your seatbelts childrens, this is going to be one long post. Spent the night at Kay's Friday, feasted on Twizzlers, cake (::grin::), and other assorted munchables. Strangely enough, I slept a lot there and went to bed early when I came home here. I think I slept so much, I'm now having trouble sorting what happened in my dreams from what actually went on when I was awake.

Still maintaining that I don't like Halloween. Truly useless holiday in my opinion. It's sad though, like St. Patrick's day, Halloween [as we know it] evolved from a celebration with a religious/spiritual purpose into something that card and candy companies can make money from.

Waking up this morning was odd, as house-worker peoples have infiltrated the upper level to strip the paint from the windows and doors. Some person I don't know said good morning to me, which was thoughtful.

In other news, still have to finish Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Good book, actually. Specifically anticipating the Tom Riddle parts, as said boy is Voldemort's sexy teenage-self, and what could be better than that, now?

Excited about Harry Potter cosplay, even though Otakon is not for months. Will probably go as Luna Lovegood, as most roleplayers portray her as a blonde with long hair. Mind you, my hair is long, but not blonde; my wig is, though. And she is a Ravenclaw, which means she is not a not a Gryffindor. The only Gryffindor I like is Ron, the quintessential poor little poor boy. (Aww.) I happen to like Slytherins, however, believe it or not. Nothing wrong with being ambitious and acting snarky while doing it!

Presently working on a story for the TokyoPop Rising Stars of Manga contest. Shall be less depressing than last time, I have decided. I like the idea of having real characters with real problems (substance abuse, poverty, unemployment, etc.) living in not so real settings (barren deserts suspended in space). Also working on new layout for the LJ, maybe something with spiff scroll bars if I can manage how to work them. Will probably end up asking Kay for her infinite wisdom on the subject of all things layout related.

Came back from the store not too long ago, now working on questions for Modern World History. Pretty good class...I say that because I'm doing well. Honestly, has anyone ever liked something they weren't good at? (Well, maybe if he or she was a little masochist or something.) People sure are odd.

Updating now from school, can you believe it? Anyways, currently in school and researching for a painting project on surrealism. Cool stuff actually, though a bit bizarre at times. If I didn't know it, I would swear that all of these surrealist artists were either sex maniacs, vouyerists, or just plain delusional. Ah, but such is what makes life interesting...I suppose.

In other news, currently not liking my pre-calculus teacher on account of his bastardized policies and [lack of] teaching methods. Damn him. To hell. And Back. (I would use more vulgar word choice, but when applied to him, it would just sound nasty.)

Time to go now, El Runion has called us in and back to class. Hopefully will get a chance to go online and catch up with my AIM buddies when at home. I miss Kay and Jessica, want to and must talk with them. <3

Until then!

Another update; school has officially started, though much of this week's classes were cut short due to power problems plaguing the building. Classes are fine, but am finding that I don't quite fancy my English teacher. She is monotone. She is sarcastic. She is out to steal my glory. Alright, enough drama already: I will give her a shot, though I'm not holding my breath.

Ryna and I finally finished the manga, literally just in the nick of time. It actually looked better than I anticipated, though I have to say I was the happiest when the little bugger was postmarked and sent on its merry way.

Heard from Kay yesterday, which is good, considering I thought something horrible had happened to her. (Luckily, it was just her family visiting that kept her away from the computer.)

Also heard from Mimi yesterday. She seems to be doing alright and is getting along well with her new roommate. Still want that wretched skirt back from her.

Raffaell has officially moved out and is in his dorm. Rejoice! At this point in time, I am technically an only child. Might actually go up and see him later, Mom mentioned dropping something off over at Hopkins.

Working now on getting back to work; cavemen and prehistoric life are just so interesting, how could I resist? (Makes me want to don a loin cloth and spear.) Eh, maybe tomorrow.

Finally —an update. Dragging my feet about as usual, yes. School starts in a few days, so I'm forced to get my act together and finish my summer reading.

Went to Otakon with Kay a few weeks back, it was fun, but exhausting to say the least. I will maintain that having money on hand is a good thing. Luckily, I didn't go home empty handed, and picked up two small art books and a strap for my cell. The people certainly were friendly though, and I found it was easy to strike up a conversation between booth-bro wsing in the dealer's room. Still have to get the stuff I left at Kay's house when I slept over there. Wonder what my toothbrush is up to...

Went over to Ryna's the other day and gave her the DVD and manga I bought for her at Otakon. Might go shoppin g wi th her tomorrow, depends on if her mom says it's okay.

Got in a scuffle earlier with Raffaell over his Dream Cast. Oh well, he'll be out of here [not] soon enough for school. And no, I do not get his room when he leaves. (He needs it for when he comes home on weekends, the little prince.) Woe, the trials and tribulations of being the youngest child.

Better get back to work; I might just finish early to spite myself.
